my son and I went camping this week, we arrived tues, set up camp and went swimming. That night after retiring, around 11pm wind roared into camp- it was so windy I had to stand outside in the wind and rain trying in vain to hold down my gazebo. It was fruitless as it busted in all the corner pieces and Trevor and I had to go out in the wind to take it apart, saving the tarp from damage. Fun huh? All night the wind grabbed our tents and tried to pull them apart, I was petrified and so was Trevor. I kept praying all night for the Creator to please stop the wind and rain, but he didnt listen to me.
It was still windy in the morning after I woke from a fitful sleep. But at least the rain stopped,,for the moment. We had breakfast and took off to Canada to hang out there for the day. It was fun and we explored a bit to the parks (see above pic)
after spending most of the day, we returned to camp and went swimming again. As I was making dinner I noticed cloudings rolling in, and heard thunder. It started to rain just when we finished dishes and we went into the tents to wait it out. The ranger came around telling everyone there were severe thunderstorms comeing in and a tornado watch!! Trev and I decided not to wait around and tore camp down quick and took off not caring about whether things were put away neat, we just wanted to get out.
All the way home the storm followed us to the east- very scary to see near tornados around us.
this is one of the pics I took, it looks pretty but it was very dangerous. The storm hit where I live shortly after we got back, one of the transfomers blew out and we lost power for a few seconds, thank god that was all.
I felt very sad that our vacation was ruined. I hope next yr we can go again and have a good time like we did the last few times we went.
